London Lionesses team attended the 1st Deaf Women basketball tournament on Saturday 12th May 2012 at Ark Academy in Wembley to played against with Montpellier team (French team) and Pestro team (Italia team). My team brought silver medals.

Results:
London Lionesses – Montpellier team 37 : 17
Montpellier team – Pesaro team 12 : 52
Pesaro team – London Lionesses team 31 : 23

London Lionesses played games twice a day and trying to best their ability for both games against Montpellier and Pesaro. In the end of the day last game with Pesaro we were overwhelmed and emotional in hoping towards the gold medals, but I would like to congratulations them as their performance really well.

I am pleasure with myself that the event went successfully very well and had been great opportunity for more likely women development that I had discussed with some women and we are on way to cooperate with another country for basketball game. Attended numbers of visitors/fans were more than I was expecting.

I would like to say thanks to our basketball coach Kristaps Kikurs and some volunteers/supporters during the games. We are looking forward to seeing for our future women development. Message from DBUK president Lina:
In particular, I would like to thank London Lionesses Team Manager Maira Laumets who gave all her efforts to see this tournamen happen. A huge respect is being sent to her! I am so glad that the 1st Deaf Women Tournament went smoothly. We were so happy that both teams came over to play with us from two different countries. This is our first experience to organize the first tournament for the Deaf women. We hope that there will be more team players from different countries in the next following year!
